Job Title: Deck Electrician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Deck Electrician with three or more years of experience in the electrical field, specifically in marine applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages. Candidates should be capable of working independently with proper instruction and skilled in using basic electrical meters and test instruments.

Hard Skills

• Reading and interpreting electrical installation drawings

• Using basic electrical meters and test instruments

• General deck electrician work

• Cable installation and terminations

• Proficiency with electrician hand tools

Soft Skills

• Ability to work independently

• Physical ability to climb, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and in confined spaces

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 2 Year(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Newport News, Virginia.

Work Environment

Shipyard environment in Southeast Virginia. The yard stretches over 5 miles long. The climate is very hot and muggy during the summer and cool during the winter. All work will be performed on a Navy vessel or in a shop environment. Candidates must be able to work any shift: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am).
