Description

Immediate opportunity in Human Services department with company located in Newport News that requires to be fluent verbally and in writing in Spanish. Must be able to translate conversations and documents to include understanding and effectively communicating with families from a variety of Spanish speaking countries (dialects). This position requires experience in Human Services experience and a degree in related field. Provide parenting support and education for Spanish and English-speaking families in Human Services department. In this role, you will assist families in setting and achieving goals, monitor child development, and connect families with community resources.

Responsibilities:

• Assist families in setting and achieving their goals

• Introduce relevant curriculum to families and their children

• Monitor child and maternal health/mental health

• Screen and assess for child development delays

• Ensure families benefit from available support services

• Identify family needs and connect them with appropriate community resources

• Follow up on referrals to ensure families are receiving the help they need

• Complete written reports on family progress and needs

• Enter necessary data into the system accurately and promptly

• Attend training and staff meetings to stay current with department initiatives and regulations

• Translate conversations and documents when needed.

Requirements

• Must have a bachelor's degree in human services or related field and minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience in a human services role

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to handle email correspondence effectively and professionally

• Must possess strong organizational and multitasking abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
