The Role

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

This is an exciting hands-on position providing Aircraft Carrier Engineering support to deck plate Trades in the construction, grooming and testing of weapons elevators. You will learn a complex system(s) including mechanical, electrical and hardware interfaces.

• Position will start and train on 1st shift, then move to 2nd shift once trained (potentially 3rd shift), (Pay differential provided for 2nd and 3rd shift)

• Work Environment: Hybrid between Office and On Ship

• Will work directly with trades and Navy on the deckplate

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;

Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong aptitude for electromechanical systems

• Troubleshooting experience

• Technical writing experience

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings.

• Ability to climb vertical ladders

• Experience with software to hardware interfaces

Preferred Qualifications:

• Machinery critical-alignment experience

• Machinery installation experience

• Mechanical or Electrical component analysis experience

• Variable Speed Drive and PLC experience

• Electromechanical actuator experience

• Prior experience working aboard Navy ships
