Our Regulated Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector. Our clients include some of the largest water companies in the UK, and contractors working in the sector. We deliver wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes, as well as supporting other related industries. Our projects range in scope from routine network maintenance projects to some of the largest water projects in the UK.

  • Delivery of structural design activities on water sector schemes

  • Scoping design requirements for structural activities and working with the wider multidisciplinary team

  • Developing, with training and support, your own technical skills towards becoming professionally qualified with IStructE (preferred) or ICE

  • Supporting efficient project delivery, supporting our project managers and technical leads

  • Communicating design information to CAD technicians and supervising the production structural drawings

  • Contributing to the technical development of Water Asset Design structures team

  • Operating in accordance with corporate and regulatory health and safety, environment and quality standards

YOUR TEAM

  • As a Structural Engineer within the Asset Design team you will work on a wide range of projects within the clean and waste sectors of the UK water industry. The team also work on overseas water companies and with private companies in the disposal of wastewater. Our dynamic team supports each other and rewards success. You will get a chance to work with other disciplines within the Asset design team as well as the wider WSP business

  • You will work with and support the Structural Lead in the delivery structural designs for the team in weekly resource meetings

  • Our team is distributed across the UK and is supported by an outsourced team in India

  • A relevant degree and are working towards chartership with membership of an applicable institution

  • Experience in delivering projects from feasibility, concept and detailed design through to the construction management phase.

  • Water sector experience would be an advantage but not essential

  • Strong technical skills in civil & structural engineering

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • An ability to coordinate with other disciplines and liaise effectively with clients and suppliers

  • Digital engineering skills, including modelling and BIM would be an advantage but not essential

  • A full UK Driving Licence (Essential)

  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills in English

Technical Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of current Eurocodes and relevant

  • Knowledge and experience in the use of key structural materials; concrete, steel, masonry and timber

  • Experience in the design of below ground water retaining reinforced concrete structures is preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge and experience in the use structural design software. TEDDs, EXCEL design sheets and Autodesk ROBOT is preferred but not essential

  • Experience in the production drawings using REVIT is preferred but not essential

  • Experience in the production of reinforcement drawing and schedules using CADs RC3D is preferred but not essential
