Actalent Mechanical Project Engineer in Newbury Park, California

Description:

Role & Responsibilities:  Collaborate in the development of exterior lighting projects to bring new or improved products to market  Utilize a hands-on approach to product design, assembling prototype designs, creating demonstration spaces, and working closely with manufacturing  Ownership of complete project deliverables, including design documentation, ordering system setup, production documentation, sales tools, cost model, etc.  Create custom variations of standard products to rapidly deliver on unique customer applications  Qualify products to ensure that our offering exceeds industry standards for product quality and safety  Support the production teams in daily operations through expeditious identification of issues and thoughtful root cause analysis  Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, etc.  Enhanced product quality and streamlined production processes by efficiently executing engineering change requests

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Requirements:  2-5 years of professional engineering work experience, preferably in product development or sustaining engineering  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design from an accredited program  3D CAD software expertise, SolidWorks preferred with the ability to interpret and apply GD&T  Experience working with CNC and die cast aluminum  Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams through projects or organizations  Lighting industry and optics design experience preferred but not required  Familiar with AC and DC circuits, as well as constant current and constant voltage architectures - preferred but not required.  Proficient in using testing equipment for design validation testing, i.e. multimeter, thermocouples, calipers, etc.
