The Prudential Insurance Company of America Vice President, Principal Data Engineer in Newark, New Jersey

Vice President, Principal Data Engineer (The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ): Act as a single point of contact for all data platform related engineering services for internal customers. Collaborate with platform consumers including product owners, data engineers, data scientists, data analysts to funnel platform feature refinements and requirements to data platform development team. Service data platform consumers via deployment of consumer onboarding, processing, and data sharing DevOps pipelines. Create JIRA stories for new feature requests, service requests and bugs for resolution by the EDP development and support teams. Act as in house data platform expert, create training content and educate consumers on the use of the enterprise data platform. Partner with EDP Technical lead for feature development, and EDP managed services for feature testing and release planning. Partner closely with managed services to ensure optimized platform operations and support. Responsible for all EDP customer infrastructure creation including network, security and business continuity (backups, recovery, etc.). Responsible for all EDP customer platform deliveries, usage, and performance reporting. Work with internal service providers including Cloud Administration, SRE, DevOps, BISO, and InfoSec teams in support of data platform customers. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and vendors, perform advanced troubleshooting, gather relevant documentation, and resolve tickets in a timely & precise manner. Follows the data platform architecture; supports implementation and maintenance success, offering alternative solutions if needed. Continually evaluate usage of existing environments and identify ways to simplify, automate, and/or increase the effectiveness of the environment. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Must have a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field, and 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: • Utilizing data and analytics technologies including Data Lake and Data Warehouses using modern cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS); • Data Lake and Data Warehouse implementations; • Utilizing scripting languages including: Bash and Python; • Utilizing cloud-based data platforms to deploy consumer onboarding pipelines, data processing pipelines, and data sharing pipelines; • Utilizing enterprise project management tools for creating new feature requests, service requests and bug resolution; • Working with data platforms to create training content to educate consumers on the use of the enterprise data platform; • Platform development for partnering with technical leads for software feature development, feature testing and release planning; • Working with engineering cloud infrastructure, including network, security and business continuity (backups, recovery); and • Working with multiple internal service providers including Cloud Administration, Site Reliability Engineers, DevOps, BISO, and InfoSec teams in support of data platform.
