Summary:

This role performs critical outreach functions on behalf of the Office of Business Development, interfacing directly with partners within NJ TRANSIT and beyond, in the agency’s communities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, enhances, and implements training and internal events for NJ TRANSIT’s Office of Business Development’s (OBD) business development initiatives related to its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (DVOB) and general programs. Develops training and event content and materials for new, on-going and ad-hoc training and workshops, as needed. Conducts training to various audiences on a wide range of DBE/SBE/DVOB related topics such as the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) DBE Program requirements, OBD/Procurement/contracting best practices, and business networking. Takes lead in facilitation elements of OBD internal/external events and works with internal/external business partners on OBD content related elements of training events and initiatives. Supports Compliance Operations team in preparing presentations for events and programs as needed.

  • Takes a lead role in developing all external OBD communication, branding and marketing content and related materials (e.g. media releases, brochures, advertisements). Coordinates with internal/external partners and stakeholders on OBD advertising, advertising content and media placement. Provides creative guidance and marketing support on behalf of OBD for projects and initiatives, including but not limited to the development of disparity studies, bonding and capacity building workshops, and mentor-protégé programs. Takes lead in identifying and obtaining collateral, giveaways and other items to be used in marketing NJ TRANSIT’s DBE program and OBD.

  • Leads development and management of OBD’s social media platforms for stakeholder engagement (e.g. twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Responsible for ensuring regular procurement opportunity, networking event and other relevant communication (e.g. contracting E-blasts) to DBEs in the New Jersey Unified Certification program (NJUCP), SBEs, DVOBs and other community stakeholders and partners. Responsible for maintaining updated content for all aspects of the OBD portion of NJ TRANSIT’s website content.

  • Develops and maintains up to date standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidance and best practice documentation for OBD internal and external processes. Ensures alignment of SOPs between NJ TRANSIT and NJUCP partners; Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Takes lead in communicating with external agency business partners on OBD SOP’s; procurement opportunities and other NJ TRANSIT related information. Owns the dissemination and update of all SOPs, guidance and best practice related content to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Performs DBE certification and DBE/SBE/DVOB contract compliance functions as needed and supports other OBD special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a US Department of Education accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of three (3) years in a corporate working environment w/ two (2) years of applied experience in a D/S/M/W Business Enterprise program, EEO program, ADA program and/or other public sector civil rights or social justice program.
