Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for NJMS-Pediatrics-Adolescent Medicine. The Licensed Practical Nurse engages adolescents and young adults (AYAs) in the clinic under the guidance of a physician and Advance Practice Nurse (APN). The LPN provides clinical expertise in family planning and prevention strategies, and provides assessment, planning, and treatment of HIV/STI positive youth in the Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM). Functions in a variety of roles including clinical, administrative, and centralized services depending on the needs of the clinic.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides patient care according to Rutgers protocols and policies and the professional standards of the American Nurses Association.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, Title X, CDC, DEA, and the New Jersey Department of Public Health.
  • Complies with all LPN related documented workflows including the follow-up and referral procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with all clinic staff and managers to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Assists the physician with the correct ordering of all labs and diagnostics in Epic EHR per follow-up procedures and ensures specimens are collected prior to patient departure from the clinic.
  • Assists the physician with management of any p regnancy related follow-up of abnormal results and referrals

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Possession of a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Phlebotomy and physical assessment skills are essential.
  • Thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices guidelines.
  • Must exhibit cultural sensitivity to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office components, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is required.
  • Team builder
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent research skills
  • Proficiency in EPIC
  • Prior experience working with the adolescent and young adult populations with sexual and reproductive is highly preferred.
