As part of the Corporate Controllers Department, the External Financial Reporting Team is responsible for the controllership activities in support of the U.S. business units, Newark-based international entities and select international locations. The External Financial Reporting Team supports GAAP and Statutory reporting across multiple legal entities, including subsidiary and separate account financial statements, disclosures, analysis, various regulatory filing submissions, and internal and external audit support. The team partners with Business Unit Finance and Operations areas, Actuarial, as well as other corporate areas.

What you can expect:

Preparation and/or review of Separate Account GAAP audited financial statements and disclosures, related financial statement supporting schedules/footnotes, and financial statement analysis, in support of SEC filings and business partner requirements.
Preparation and/or review of annual SEC regulatory filings Form N-CEN and Form 24F-2 on behalf of the separate accounts.
Support all financial reporting audits, including collaboration with various external auditors and several internal support teams.
Preparation and review of analysis of legal entity schedules/footnotes for inclusion in Statutory financial statement filings with Insurance Departments (Green Book)
Partner with Business Unit Finance areas, Corporate GAAP and STAT areas and several other internal business partners on accounting and reporting matters.
Support the implementation of new or updated accounting guidance and regulatory requirements.
Maintain internal control standards to ensure compliance with Enterprise Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Support ongoing efforts to improve and enhance the financial reporting processes and control environment.
Support other internal and external results, adhoc requests, and special projects as needed.
Support special projects such as automation, product and fund changes, and new regulatory requirements, etc.
Responsible for maintenance of standard operating procedures.
Development and oversight of junior staff members.

What you will need:

Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting.
Minimum of 5 years of financial reporting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and/or Statutory accounting and reporting.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under challenging time frames.
Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, written and verbal communication, and leadership skills.
Self-motivated and detail-oriented, while also maintaining a big picture perspective.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with Oracle and Essbase.
Ability to work overtime during peak periods.

It would be a plus if you had:
Separate Account and SEC reporting experience.
Experience working with audits.
Experience with the Workiva system.
Supervisory experience.
CPA designation or MBA degree.
