The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is searching for a full time surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on clinical track. Responsibilities will include staffing the undergraduate and resident clinics as well as participation in the didactic curriculum offered by the department. The ideal candidate must have completed an OMFS training program and be eligible for New Jersey dental licensure with board eligibility/certification. Faculty will be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities and will be expected to participate in the intramural faculty practice. Position will remain open until filled. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Staffing the clinics including direct supervision of students and residents
* Participation in the didactic curriculum offered by the department including formal didactic lectures, conferences and seminar series;
* Fundamentals of Oral Surgery
* Local Anesthesia
* Advanced Topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
* Advanced Techniques in Pain Control
* Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program Grand Rounds
* Apply and obtain hospital privileges at University Hospital to allow staffing hospital clinics, operating room cases and opportunity to participate in the on-call schedule for OMFS Department;
* Develop faculty practice within the intramural faculty practice;
* Represent the Department on school, University and Hospital committees as assigned by Chair;
* Other related duties as assigned by Chair.

Faculty must be graduate of OMFS training program and have NJ dental licensePreferred candidate would be ABOMS Board CertifiedAdditional degrees or advanced training is desirable but not required.

The Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is New Jersey's only dental school, encompassing education, patient care and community outreach. It's also the state's largest oral healthcare provider, treating more than 130,000 patient visits annually at its student clinic in Newark and three sites in South Jersey.
Formerly the New Jersey Dental School, RSDM was established in 1956, as part of the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, which later became the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). In 2013, UMDNJ integrated with Rutgers University and the dental school was renamed again.
Known for its intensive clinical programs and close-knit, supportive environment, RSDM is one of the most diverse dental schools in the nation. New research laboratories, totaling 25,000 square feet, were added in the fall of 2018.
RSDM students and faculty perform community service and outreach in Newark and other New Jersey municipalities and embark on annual overseas dental missions. There are two trips to the Dominican Republic: one in the village of La Romana and another on the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, where patients from both nations receive care. Other missions include trips to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to treat patients with cleft palates and a summer mission to Native American reservations, where patients are treated at clinics run by the federal government.
The school is extremely competitive, choosing about 100 students a year from a field of more than 2,000 applicants for its incoming DMD program. Many students are from New Jersey and several are among the first generation in their families to attain a college degree.
