New York University Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management in New York

The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management for the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport. This is a nine-month faculty appointment with a two-year renewable contract with a focus on sport technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Consistent with the university’s commitment to high-quality academic programs that holistically prepare our students for impactful leadership in their organizations and communities, we aim for a faculty member who can deliver digital marketing education that weaves together core areas in demand in this space: digital acumen, marketing expertise, strategic communications and leadership skills.

We seek faculty candidates who have experience or evidence of the potential for success in teaching a diverse population of students, including first generation students, and students from diverse linguistic, cultural, racial, and ethnic groups from around the world.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Tisch Institute for Global Sport, this position includes teaching, applied research, and service expectations along with the responsibility to take an active role in building industry partnerships, advising students, and supporting the development of the program in the area of sport technology. The successful candidate for this position will be charged with developing relationships with industry partners to enable student and Tisch Institute program opportunities.

The Tisch Institute for Global Sport enjoys an international reputation for innovative undergraduate and graduate curricula and experiential learning. With its scholar-practitioner faculty and its deep and mutually supportive connections to the New York and global industry communities, the Tisch Institute is among the most recognized educators in sport business. Additionally, its noncredit professional education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops collectively serve a broad base of professionals in the sports business community.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The Tisch Institute provides students with the tools to manage change, effectively communicate, thrive in complex work environments, and advance the business of sports through an undergraduate degree in sports management and two graduate degrees, one in sports business and another in global sport, a wide-range of noncredit programs, and industry-focused conferences, the Institute provides students with the tools to manage change, effectively communicate, thrive in complex work environments, and advance the business of sports.

The Tisch Institute's ten full-time and nearly 50 adjunct faculty members, along with its distinguished guest lecturers, prepare approximately 550 matriculated undergraduate and graduate students to become innovative leaders in their chosen fields.

The successful candidate will possess advanced academic and professional credentials (Ph.D., or comparable advanced terminal degree), and teaching experience in higher education. The successful candidate will preferably have work experience in the sports industry. They will have a thorough understanding of contemporary sports industry issues related to the continuing development and evolution of sport technology and innovation and its impact on entrepreneurship in the sector.
