New York University Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Construction Management in New York

The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Construction Management for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, effective Fall 2024. (The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.)

The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in construction management, infrastructure, transportation and/or civil engineering and have the ability to teach courses in the following areas: construction methods and technology, construction process, building information modeling, scheduling, project management, cost estimating, global construction, construction finance, as well as infrastructure, environmental and/or transportation systems. Strong candidates will have a firm understanding of the challenges facing the construction industry in the 21st Century as well as the various intersections between construction management and global real estate, sustainability, and transportation, environmental and infrastructure systems.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision for expanding Schack’s Master of Science in Construction Management program and initiatives, and to increase Schack’s profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally.

A successful candidate will teach within the graduate degree program, develop courses; advise students; collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and engage with the broader academic community, as appropriate. A successful candidate will be further expected to demonstrate commitment and dedication to the Schack Institute, SPS, and the University in order to strengthen shared governance and advance SPS’s mission. All clinical faculty are dedicated to teaching, research, student advising, and various kinds of outside professional service on committees and in administrative or advisory roles. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students. This full-time position is a nine-month appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The Schack Institute of Real Estate

The Schack Institute of Real Estate was founded in 1967 by Larry Silverstein and the leadership of the New York City real estate community. They encouraged NYU to establish an academic center that would provide a world-class education for industry professionals. The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in civil engineering, engineering, architecture, real estate, construction, finance or other areas related to construction management (ii) have a significant industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience or effectiveness in higher education. Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
