Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Vice President, Supply Chain & Sustainability

As the Vice President of Supply Chain & Sustainability at MSK, you will play a crucial role in driving strategic direction and operational excellence for a comprehensive portfolio of supply chain and sustainability functions. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Real Estate & Operations, you will oversee the end-to-end execution of MSK’s supply chain strategy, including strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and sustainability initiatives.

With oversight of $2.5 billion in supplies and services, you will be responsible for optimizing operational efficiencies, fostering innovation, and enhancing sustainability practices across the organization. You will collaborate closely with clinical and operational leaders to ensure that MSK’s supply chain meets the needs of patients and staff, while also advancing the organization’s sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Develop and implement long-term strategic and operational plans for supply chain and sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with MSK’s mission and strategic priorities.

  • Provide thought leadership and innovative solutions to drive supply chain efficiency, cost-savings, and environmental stewardship.

  • Serve as a key leader in MSK’s sustainability strategy, driving short- and long-term value through comprehensive environmental, social, and economic efforts.

    Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of supply chain functions, including procurement, logistics, transportation, inventory management, and distribution.

  • Ensure the smooth functioning of supply chain services for both clinical and non-clinical operations.

  • Work with Finance, Treasury, and other executive teams to ensure proper internal controls, financial compliance, and alignment with budgetary goals.

    Sustainability and Innovation

  • Lead MSK’s sustainability initiatives by driving improvements in resource conservation, energy use, waste reduction, and pollution control.

  • Develop strategies to integrate sustainability into MSK’s overall strategy, focusing on environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to promote supplier diversity and sustainable sourcing practices.

    Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with clinical, administrative, and operational leaders to ensure the supply chain supports organizational goals and sustainability efforts.

  • Build strong relationships with vendors, regulatory agencies, and community partners to foster supply chain resilience and innovation.

  • Promote a culture of sustainability within the organization by engaging employees and stakeholders in sustainability goals and practices.

    Team Development and Talent Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team, providing mentorship, professional development, and opportunities for growth.

  • Develop and implement talent management and succession planning strategies to ensure continuity and excellence within the supply chain function.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the supply chain and sustainability teams.

    Financial Stewardship

  • Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring alignment with MSK’s financial goals and sustainability objectives.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, driving financial stewardship across supply chain operations.

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and provide insights to support decision-making and performance monitoring.

    Key Qualifications

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in supply chain management in a healthcare or academic medical center setting.

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic supply chain initiatives that drive operational efficiency, cost-savings, and sustainability.

  • Extensive experience in logistics, procurement, inventory management, and supplier diversity, with a focus on large-scale, complex operations.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Expertise in sustainability practices within the supply chain, including supplier diversity, ethical sourcing, and environmental stewardship.

    Core Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, foster accountability, and drive operational excellence.

  • Sustainability Expertise: Strong knowledge of environmental stewardship and social responsibility, with the ability to integrate sustainability into supply chain operations.

  • Financial Acumen: Ability to manage large budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

  • Collaboration: Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts.

  • Innovation: advancing supply chain processes through innovation and sustainable practices.

    Additional Information

  • This is an onsite role requiring flexibility to work across both MSK's Main Campus at 1275 York Ave and various outpatient sites.

  • Office located at 885 Third Ave.
