The VP Enterprise Software Engineering Enterprise Systems Shared Services is responsible for leading Enterprise Systems, provide strategic direction and leadership to guide our enterprise software initiatives; support End-to-End Application Architecture , Data Strategy and Business Analysis, Technical Project Management, Quality Assurance, Application DBA Support, and Application Support across various cloud and traditional data centers supporting all WK utilizing ERP’s, Salesforce, BI, Cloud Engineering Technologies (Kubernetes, Dockers/Containers, AWS/Azure services), Java/.Net technologies, EDI, data integration (via IIB, Informatica) and other Services. The team works closely with BRMs, Global Information Security, Infrastructure operations, SAP BASIS team, Architecture, GBS IT PMO, Business Units/Divisions, and other Delivery organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement software engineering strategies aligned with organizational goals.

• Oversee the design and development of enterprise software applications.

• Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration to ensure seamless software integration.

• Manage software development projects from conception to deployment.

• Monitor and improve the performance and usability of existing software systems.

• Conduct regular reviews of software architecture and design to improve effectiveness.

• Provide mentorship and leadership to software engineering teams.

• Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, including coding standards and testing.

• Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize product features.

• Identify and mitigate risks in software development projects.

• Lead cross-functional teams to successfully deliver on system design and development for the needed business requirements supporting various Business Units.

• Lead cross-functional teams to implement Enterprise Systems Applications and services supporting End-to-End Application Architecture and Business Analysis, Data Strategy, Master Data management, Technical Project Management, Quality Assurance, Application DBA Support, and Application Support across various cloud and traditional data centers supporting all WK utilizing ERP’s, Salesforce, BI, Cloud Engineering Technologies (Kubernetes, Dockers/Containers, AWS/Azure services), Java/.Net technologies, EDI, and other Services.

• Partnering with business, and IT stakeholders, lead the innovation task force within Enterprise Systems to scale, infuse AI and automation across business and IT functions.

• Lead and manage technical project management and Quality Assurance functions across divisions/regions.

• Lead and manage the DR and Audit Services needed for Enterprise Systems.

• Lead and manage the portfolio of work for various business units.

• Work across the GBS organizations including teams responsible for requirements, solution architecture, quality assurance and production support.

• Lead and manage continuous improvement planning deliverables.

• Attract, motivate, retain, and hire top technologists.

• Partner with hardware, software, and services vendors.

• Provide strong and deep technical insights in various disciplines across delivery.

• Provide strategic, architectural, solution, implementation, and support guidance across various applications including but not limited to Integration, STEP Platform, enterprise systems support

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, methodologies, processes, and best practices.

• Establish and maintain competence in current and planned versions of products.

• Understand the use of industry tools / technology & their impact on project & operational goals.

• Negotiate and structure contracts favorable to the organization.

• Assist in process improvement initiatives by working across technical teams to enhance the systems, processes, and controls to ensure effective development, monitoring, and support is in place.

• Represent Wolters Kluwer within the industry by developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Wolters Kluwer products, industry trends and general business and financial acumen through various sources and initiative. Communicate Wolters Kluwer competitive advantage to customers in a compelling articulate manner in speech, writing and formal presentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field required

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or MBA preferred

Experience:

Minimum 15+ years broad Information Technology experience in:

• Driving technical, cultural, and operational transformation and delivery of mission critical business programs

• Experience in working with Enterprise Architecture, Project and Program Management, Systems Design and Delivery, Application Support and Infrastructure operations

• Experience in leading large geographically disperse organizations and budget

• Experience in leading cross-functional teams to implement Enterprise Systems Applications utilizing technology like ERPs, services implementations (including SOA or micros-services), managing information management systems, ETL/Reporting Services, delivery of large-scale applications utilizing Java/J2EE and/or .Net technologies, managing applications in different hosting providers

• Experience in leading Technical Project Management and Quality Assurance functions

• Experience in leading and implementing DR and Audit services across the organization

• Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills and experience

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience including presentations to senior management, peer groups and associates

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching associates in various aspects including technology

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated project management and planning skills and experience

• Strong understanding of project life cycle methodology and procedures

• Experience in understanding business processes from end to end context and ability to communicate to business stakeholders in a non-technical manner

• Ability to conduct an analysis of business needs, including scheduling meetings, planning agendas, conferring with business line leaders, documenting, and making verbal and written presentations

• Demonstrated experience in working with various geographically diverse associates and vendor partners

• Demonstrated budget management, tracking, and forecasting skills and experience

• Demonstrated on-time and on-budget system delivery skills and experience

• Strong knowledge of organization policies and procedures

• Demonstrated knowledge of architecture, systems, application technologies, developing technology maps and performance engineering

• Demonstrated experience in taking the high-level enterprise strategy and blueprints and converting into implementation roadmaps, system level deliverables for delivery

• Demonstrated experience in using industry standard toolsets to deliver requirements, design, and development. Prefer 5+ years of experience in Rational Toolsets or equivalent

Travel required for this position: 25-50%

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $203,900 - $262,150
