The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a meticulous, dependable technician to join our growing team. The technician will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and research scientists in executing the aims of funded grants and carrying out standard lab procedures and protocols. These projects will include molecular, cell biological, and tissue culture.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing reagents.
  • CRISPR genome engineering of patient specific stem cells.
  • Maintain lab supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires two years of college or a completed AA program with an emphasis on chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience genotyping is required.
  • Strong communication skills, highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks/projects at once and keeping up-to-date records on projects, invoices, orders, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of experience in cell culture and genotyping is desirable, but not required.
  • Laboratory experience outside of undergraduate laboratory coursework.
