Value Line Publishing Technical Business Analyst (freelance) in New York, New York

Value Line Publishing, founded in 1931, is an independent investment research and financial publishing firm located in Midtown Manhattan (remote work). We are seeking a freelance Technical Business Analyst to assist in the conversion of our legacy Paradox systems to modern architechture.For this project, you will work in conjunction with other Technical Business Analysts, Developers and Business Users to translate information collected from Paradox For DOS applications into clear and concise Business Requirements Documents. You will use your expertise to analyze the information provided by business users, suggesting approaches and soliciting requirements that may not have been originally considered. You will create screen mock ups and workflows and obtain written sign-off from the key stakeholders.Under the direction of the Director of Project Management and in coordination with the IT Project Manager, you will communicate the requirements to developers and other technicians and ensure that the requirements are understood and met. You will act as the liaison between the non-technical and technical worlds. In addition, you will assist in the quality assurance effort, working with the QA team to create and execute test plans, as needed.To be successful in this role, you will need the demonstrated ability to describe technical concepts in clear, concise English (both written and verbal). You are collaborative and are adept at interviewing non-technical staff to obtain a complete set of requirements. You are deadline oriented. You work well as part of a team of subject matter experts who possess a wide variety of technical experience. You have experience documenting and analyzing a variety of data processing systems. The ideal candidate has a background in the processing of equities related data and / or large databases.
