About the role:

Softheon is looking for a Systems Administrator that will lead a team to build, maintain, monitor, support, diagnose, and repair Softheon’s physical and virtual systems and networking infrastructure. Additionally, your team may provide second level technical support escalation to the Softheon Helpdesk for the internal staff of Softheon.

This position is 100% on-site at our Stony Brook Headquarters.

Requirements

You will:

Technical Support and Coordination

  • Receive and coordinate resolutions to technical support calls and requests for the IT team.

  • Engage in a team-based rotation system to provide continuous, round-the-clock support for critical production issues, ensuring prompt and effective response and resolution to maintain operational stability.

  • Advise the Softheon Helpdesk on tasks and help to develop methods and procedures to increase helpdesk efficiency on duties.

Server Deployment and Maintenance

  • Deploy, configure, and monitor Windows servers according to best practices and compliance standards specific to the healthcare industry.

  • Regularly update server OS to the latest versions or patches to maintain security and feature compatibility.

  • Oversee ongoing performance tuning, hardware, and software upgrades and optimization as needed for system and networking infrastructure.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Regularly review server logs and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.

  • Optimize server performance by tweaking configurations and implementing best practices.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement, maintain, and enforce security policies specific to Windows servers in a healthcare setting.

  • Monitor industry alerts and notifications regarding any vulnerabilities specific to Windows server environments.

Collaboration and Integration

  • Work closely with DBAs, network engineers, and application developers to ensure servers meet the specific needs of hosted applications and services.

Continuous Learning and Development

  • Stay updated on the latest trends in system and cloud technologies, especially those relevant to the healthcare sector.

Additional Responsibilities

  • This role requires you to work EST hours.

  • This role requires you to be on-site at our Stony Brook Headquarters.

  • Availability to work occasional weekends and overnight hours as needed.

You have:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • AZ-900 Certification required

Experience

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft Server Admin.

  • Minimum of 1 year of PowerShell experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of Microsoft Active Directory experience.

  • Willingness to work monthly overnights and possible weekend work.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong etiquette for internal digital communications (email or ticketing).

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing simultaneous projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, independently, and in a team environment.

  • Technical expertise in identifying, diagnosing, and evaluating end-user computer and account issues, and developing effective mitigation and repair methods.

Knowledge

  • Experience or familiarity with:

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Workstation hardware troubleshooting techniques and software utilities.

  • Workstation software troubleshooting techniques and resolution.

  • Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Microsoft Server 2012, 2012R2, 2016, 2022.

  • Hyper-V Virtualization.

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000/yr
