Incite at Columbia University invites applications for a Staff Associate I position to assist the Incite Director and other professional officers of research in the conduct of research projects at Incite. The position will begin November 1, 2024 and is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. The Staff Associate will carry out assigned duties in the capture and analysis of data, and will manage workflow and support those projects at Incite that employ statistical analysis of large-scale, individual-level data that currently include: Movements Against Mass Incarceration Lab, a Mellon Foundation-funded project that has partnered with five non-profits to captures stories of justice impacted people throughout the United States; and the George Soros Oral History Project, which assess through narrative the degree that Mr. Soros and Open Society Foundation influenced democracy worldwide based on decades of work; and the Leveraging Urban AI as a Communal Tool for Connection and Exchange in Harlem Project supported by the National Science Foundation on the structures and dynamics of AI on a community level; and the Labor Lab's investigation of autoworker supply chain and labor standards at Alabama Hyundai contracted by Jobs to Move America.
Specific Duties will Include:
Supporting the data collection, processing, cleaning, statistical analysis, and reporting on various large-scale data Incite projects. - 35%
Managing workflow by attending and organizing research team meetings, assisting in setting research agenda, assisting in identifying key research tasks to be performed by team members, communicating and assigning tasks as needed, and ensuring project research deliverables meet their timelines. - 30%
Crafting literature reviews and supporting the development of other research projects at Incite on an as-needed basis. - 20%
Providing other research support as appropriate to meet project deliverables, including supporting a collective of researchers seeking to build a data core on various projects. - 15%

Minimum Salary: 62400.00 Maximum Salary: 70000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
