Job Description

Insight Global is seeking two Backend Java Developers for one of their premier financial services clients in New York. This person will be designing, developing and maintaining Java-based applications and will be responsible for taking ownership of delivery of the initiatives across the full software development lifecycle. This person will be working on a project onboarding and integrating within an internal platform into the firm's environment. As a developer within the company, they will be expected to wear many hats and not only develop code from scratch but also help with testing, code reviews, design and support. They will be working within the old legacy technical stack and utilizing some new technology to the environment like Kafka and Kubernetes. This role will be an ongoing contract and will require to be onsite five days a week.

Skills and Requirements

• 7+ years of backend Software Engineering experience

   - Demonstrable delivery experience

   - Demonstrable core Java (JDK 8 and above) development experience in an enterprise environment

   - Solid understanding of Core Java concepts and design patterns

   - Strong understanding of design concepts and data structures

   - Strong debugging experience (ability to debug current code)

   - Strong testing experience; unit and integration

   - Proficient with Object Oriented Design & Development

   - Strong experience in Spring Boot

   - Strong experience with RESTful web services

   - Strong experience with Microservices architecture

   - Strong understanding of database technologies

   - RDBMS experience (DB2 or Sybase preferred, write/analyse complex queries with multi-table joins and aggregate functions)

Kafka experience - Experience with Cloud technologies and Kubernetes Deployments

 - Prior experience supporting a code migration (Legacy to Greenfield)

 - Basic Shell Scripting experience
