MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office

Individual will be responsible for helping drive the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Service Automation Program & Strategy. This includes opportunities identification by working closely with SRE teams, requirements / authoring of stories in Jira, solution engineering, automation development, implementation of automation capabilities, providing playbook support in some instances, work with various partner teams and SREs to solicit Agile feedback (CSI Opportunities and product improvement), and finally a heavy focus on performance metrics to ensure our priorities are aligned and based on value.

Work with both horizontal and vertical teams, partnering with different areas including: SRE, Command Center / L1, Development Teams, Integration Engineering, Monitoring Teams, Inc Mgmt, Architecture, System Engineering along with various Vendor teams.

Work closely with various Stakeholders, conducting TableTop Discussions, performing Value Analysis to help define new opportunities and proposed automation solutions. Identify and drive the right balance

between automated workflow and efficiency gains, continually pushing to achieve higher levels of Stability.

Help Drive an Automation Strategy, which will transition WM Service Operations to a more 'Proactive' Service Automation Model. As a corner stone of our automation program, the 'Virtual Engineer' will continue to take on a growing role as we work toward our target state support goals and onboard new automation capabilities.

**Serve in the role of technical subject matter expert, driving service automation solutions, while continually identifying new opportunities where automation provides value

**Define Requirements for both New and Existing (enhancements) Automation Capabilities.

**Solution Architecture which includes the Design and Implementation of new automation capabilities, Workflows and Human Adoption Plans.

**Support SRE automation development efforts by playing various roles including: Playbook Support, Solutions Engineer, Automation Analyst.

**Establish Service Automation standards and promote best practices

**Collaborates with partner teams and identify service automation needs.

**Drive Automation delivery and competencies within the technical teams.

**Conduct research on Automation products, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the Service Automation Industry.

**Oversees new and existing automation capabilities. Provide support for some instances of automation development.

**Create and Maintain a Service Automation Roadmap

**Interact with partner teams to ensure services development is completed according to business requirements and enterprise standards.

**Conduct Data Analysis / Performance Metrics Review to drive Problem Management (Identifying Patterns, Trends and Gaps in Current State. Drive Resolution and CSI)

**Plan, engineer and implement robust solutions, exploiting emerging technologies to provide compelling solutions.

Qualification / Skills Required

**Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including ability to present in front of Senior Mgmt

**Ability to work in an Agile Development Environment and using Jira.

**Functional knowledge of Service Operations and Production Mgmt

**Ability to identify and work with Dev teams, SREs, ASG management and other support practitioners to identify automation opportunities.

**7 years of Financial Service Technology Experience

**7 years' experience with business requirements gathering and technical documentation.

**7 years' experience Engineering Automation Capabilities

**7 years' experience Python Coding (or equivalent syntax for automation script development)

**Hands on knowledge of PowerShell, Linux shell scripting, Ansible / YAML, Object Oriented Programming, OS installation and troubleshooting

**Ansible Automation Framework engineering / development experience (We will consider candidates that have experience with an equivalent Automation framework)

**Familiarity with IaC (Implementing configurations as code)

**Hands on knowledge of PowerShell, Linux shell scripting and troubleshooting

Skills Desired

**Functional knowledge both distributed and Cloud Environments (Public and Private Cloud is a PLUS)

**Data Engineering Skills: Experience with DB such as SQL, working with data sets / tables, setting up ETL jobs

**Tableau / Grafana Dashboard Development experience is a PLUS

**Proving Value by means of Automation/Stability Metrics (i.e. MTTR, MTTI, KPIs)

**Familiarity with Access Mgmt, Role Based Access (RBAC)

**General multi-tier application architecture knowledge is a PLUS

**Experience working within a DevOps Model

**Understanding of SRE model.

**PagerDuty Experience a PLUS

Education Requirements

**Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related scientific and or technical discipline (equivalent experience).

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
