Overview

Joining the Con Edison Energy Storage Team is an ideal path to building your clean energy career and helping to deploy energy storage projects in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. The Sr. Specialist in Business Development will be responsible for creating and advancing business development efforts for Con Edison's Utility Dispatch Rights (Bulk Storage) procurements This role will lead the development of new processes to support the completion of third-party Utility Storage projects and includes external/internal stakeholder engagement, building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, New York agencies, and developers seeking to build energy storage in New York City and Westchester. The position will also include opportunities to support policy, economic, data, and new technology research to support our procurements. The Bulk Storage Procurement Group plays a critical role in helping New York City and Con Edison facilitate the energy transition by creating competitive market opportunities to secure long-term bulk energy contracts from third-party storage developers connected to both the transmission and distribution system in our service territory. The Senior Specialist should be attuned to the market forces shaping the future of energy storage in Con Edison's service territory and opportunities for storage to participate in NYISO markets. They will be charged with describing the business proposition to potential procurement participants, facilitating stakeholder dialogue around storage deployment, and illustrating the benefits storage can provide for both grid operations and supporting the use of renewable sources of generation. By representing the Utility Dispatch Rights programs in stakeholder presentations and other communications, the Senior Specialist will play a critical role in expediting storage deployment in Con Edison's service territory.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a proactive, collaborative culture to foster trust and efficiency of the Utility Dispatch Rights process among project development and industry partners, technology providers, financiers, NYC agencies, and the program team, and build, maintain and create new relationships.
  • Engage with internal and external groups to develop processes and improve the solicitation and contracting experience
  • Support policy, technology, and data analytics work related to Utility Dispatch Rights contracts
  • Oversee all aspects of the Utility Dispatch Rights program outreach including planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing timelines and information
  • Represent the Company at industry conferences and meetings with external stakeholders related to the development of EV programs and initiatives.
  • Hybrid work arrangement including reporting to Company headquarters at 4 Irving Place in New York City, as well as attending industry conferences and events, and in-person customer/developer meetings.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' work experience or
  • Master's Degree in Economics, public policy, business, or management and 2 years' work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Economics, public policy, business, or management and 2 years' work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Knowledge related to utility electrical systems (Distribution & Transmission), preferred. Required
  • Experience/knowledge in software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required. Required
  • Familiarity with the Department of Public Service (DPS) state regulatory process and related statutes such as the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), preferred. Preferred
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or customer/stakeholder outreach, preferred. Preferred

Minimum Salary: 95000.00 Maximum Salary: 130000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
