The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Public Relations Coordinator to join our Firm. Within this position, you will be responsible for supporting the Firm's public relations group on various initiatives by monitoring the media for trends and topics of interest, searching for and circulating Firm-related media coverage, identifying publishing opportunities for attorney-authored articles and client alerts, drafting certain awards submissions, and handling research projects. This position will be based in our New York office and has a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

As the Senior Public Relations Coordinator you will:

  • Compile and circulate press coverage of the Firm and monitor media for relevant trends and topics of interest to attorneys for potential media commentary opportunities.
  • Assist with review of the daily media sweep of Firm mentions in the press.
  • Facilitate media inquiries and interviews working directly with attorneys and reporters and provide summaries to appropriate parties afterward.
  • Conduct research on media outlets and reporters and generate preparatory documents and talking points in connection with press interviews.
  • Develop and maintain media lists for use in targeted pitches and general outreach concerning Firm matters and initiatives.
  • Lead publishing opportunities for attorney-authored articles, including bylined article contributions as well as republishing of Firm client mailings.
  • Maintain list of author guidelines for target publications and conduct research to identify new potential media outlets that accept contributed articles.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and publications in connection with contracts related to publishing rights.
  • Draft and manage approval process for certain award and ranking submissions.
  • Compile client-and topic-specific media analysis and handle other research projects.
  • Oversee editorial calendar opportunities and assist with tracking of media-related activities.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manage Firm resources responsibly.
  • Comply with and understand Firm operation, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills, including interacting effectively and appropriately with reporters, attorneys, senior administrative staff, and peers
  • Extremely strong administrative skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Very strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent drafting, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Flexibility to travel
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
  • Some knowledge of/familiarity with litigation and controversy practice areas preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of four years' public relations/media relations experience

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details

$85,000 - $95,000
