Amazon Senior Marketing Manager, Content Strategy, AWS Website in New York, New York

The AWS Website team seeks a visionary Content Strategy Leader to establish an exceptional content management practice. This role demands a strategic thinker who can serve as chief editor of the highly complex AWS website seen by millions of visitors weekly. They will be responsible for crafting a comprehensive content strategy that guides the intentional creation and maintenance of information across the AWS website, considering the end-to-end customer experience, while effectively collaborating with copywriters, designers and marketers across multiple organizations to create the right messages to convert prospects into new customers and build loyalty with existing ones.

This Sr. Marketing Manager will serve as the translator between technical and non-technical teams helping marketing and content authors fill content gaps and structure content effectively for compelling storytelling that improves customer engagement, brand perception and content performance while working hand in hand with architects and the content asset manager. They will manage the intersection of content audits, analysis, and editorial to fill content gaps while informing the AWS Website product roadmap to help us build and improve the tools and processes to enable an effective content supply chain. Other key skills include the following:

  • Communication and writing skills, with the ability to develop materials to educate internal teams on content marketing principles, strategies, and best practices while effectively conveying complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence and understand marketers needs and objectives and advise them on effective, well-structured storytelling that can improve customer engagement

  • Possesses a clear understanding of contextual design and structured storytelling that increases customer engagement, content reuse and categorization

  • Has the ability to influence page owners to conduct tests and experiments to demonstrate ways to increase engagement, leads and conversion and develop testing strategies that will provide data driven evidence to support recommended content changes

  • Can identify where we need to rewrite, repurpose and create new content to help different customers find the information they seek during different stages of their marketing journey.

Key job responsibilities

  • Plan, oversee, and manage all stages of the website content strategy process across different segments, personas and stages of the marketing funnel.

  • Conduct the research and data analysis to develop a POV on end-to-end content strategy for the AWS website with specific recommendations on changes to existing content that will improve the customer journey.

  • Balance strategic thinking with detailed execution, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, and identifying market challenges and opportunities for our customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Write the recommendation to marketing executive leaders to move towards more centralized control of the AWS website and create and manage to a multi-year roadmap for the AWS content supply chain.

  • Lead all stages of the website content supply chain in collaboration with UX Design, SEO, Marketing, and other relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Work with Content Architects, content asset managers, and product owners to conduct audits, appraisals and inventory of existing content and comfortably navigate site maps, schemas, taxonomy and content models

  • Develop frameworks to measure and analyze content performance, set benchmarks and derive insights for continuous content improvement

  • Educate others to improve their understanding of the end-to-end content supply chain to help AWS realize an optimized approach to planning, producing, measuring, reporting and reusing content

  • Develop a strategy for curating and repurposing existing content to maximize reach and impact to improve customer engagement

  • Create AWT requirements for content operations, authoring experience, and scaling content to enable consistent high quality content creation

  • Analytics skills to measure content performance, set benchmarks and derive insights for continuous content improvements

The AWS website team sits in the Digital Marketing Infrastructure organization and is responsible for the website platforms, operations and strategy for the AWS website. We provide global customers with a dynamic web experience tailored to their unique needs so that at any point in their journey, they can easily find what they're looking for, take action, and feel confident in AWS’ ability to help them achieve their goals. In support of this customer experience, we provide marketers with best in class tools, governance, data and expertise that make it easy for them to achieve their goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating and executing integrated marketing lead generation campaigns using tactics that include live or virtual events, webinars, email, lead nurture programs, and CRM/sales insights

  • Experience with Salesforce and Tableau

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $112,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $186,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
