Membership Portfolio Services, within our US Consumer Services Business, is responsible for developing and scaling several growing businesses that are strategically important to American Express. We are developing unique and differentiated ways to strengthen the Membership Model by connecting Card Members with Merchants that create opportunities to help drive our growth over the mid-to-long term.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The Senior Manager, Amex Ads Product role sits within the Digital Advertising team and reports to the Director, Amex Ads Product & Business Operations. This individual will support the growth of Amex’s digital advertising network, which is focused on introducing new channels for advertisers to engage Amex’s customers across our digital platforms (e.g., Amex Travel, Resy, Amex App).

This individual will own the product roadmap of several digital capabilities (e.g., ad serving, targeting, measurement) that will power Amex’s new advertising products. This individual will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of these new capabilities, in partnership with a team of engineering resources. As necessary, this individual will lead assessments of external tech solutions to fill internal capability gaps. Finally, this individual will be responsible for establishing robust compliance / risk guardrails as well as managing the team’s tech budget and resourcing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap of Amex’s new advertising capabilities (e.g., ad serving, targeting, measurement), ensuring alignment with strategic priorities of the Digital Advertising team

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of these new ad capabilities, collaborating across numerous platforms (e.g., Amex Travel, Resy, Amex App) and functional teams (e.g., product, technology, marketing, control management, legal)

  • Translate business requirements into actionable tech specifications (e.g., features, user stories) for engineering teams

  • Closely track delivery of each capability, prioritize engineering effort (when necessary), and manage an active backlog

  • Lead regular standups with tech owners to ensure timely delivery of capabilities as well as tech leadership updates to highlight progress and potential blockers

  • Help resolve tech issues that arise and proactively identify opportunities to automate processes

  • Spearhead assessments of external tech solutions to fill internal capability gaps and own the end-to-end third-party lifecycle management (TLM) associated with these new vendors

  • Enact comprehensive compliance / risk processes & controls and lead the New Product Approval (NPA) process when launching new capabilities

  • Lead the annual tech resourcing & budgeting (BID) process for the Digital Advertising team and actively manage tech funding to ensure proper utilization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 4 years of product development, product management, and/or strategy experience

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with an ability to understand technical systems, identify issues, and develop effective solutions

  • Strategic mindset with a proven ability to work in white space and ambiguity

  • Self-starter with experience leading complex projects end-to-end

  • Strong detail orientation and highly organized

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills with ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners

  • Customer-centric mindset with strong business acumen

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to develop and execute against a product vision, strategy, and prioritized backlog Technical understanding of the product development process

  • Experience managing a digital product, leading technology scrum teams (in an agile environment), including software developers, engineers, and architects

  • Experience translating business requirements into actionable tech specifications (e.g., features, user stories) and ensuring technology deliverables are built with high quality

  • Experience interfacing with product owners and technology teams at American Express

  • Experience with backlog management software (Rally/JIRA) 

  • Expertise in the advertising industry and/or Commerce Media Networks

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
