ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a seasoned data professional with experience in fast-paced environments to lead our data infrastructure development and governance. This role will report to the Director of Data and Analytics within the Product organization and be part of a tight-knit and supportive team of data experts who together power Resy’s internal reporting for strategic business decision-making and develop external analytics products for Resy’s restaurant operator clients. A focus of this role will be to foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and data-driven decision making.

As an analytics infrastructure subject matter expert, your work will focus on proactively identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency, performance, and reliability of our data pipelines, as well as to improve their scalability and maintainability. It will include optimizing existing code and data architecture while engineering new data integrations, developing new data solutions, and automating manual processes using Unix shell scripting, Python, and SQL.

As a governance subject matter expert, your work will focus on driving data security and leading the regulatory and contractual compliance initiatives across our infrastructure. It will include working with Compliance and Privacy teams to complete Information Security assessments, drive alignment between third party services and Amex requirements, and advising on and coordinating the renewal service contracts. Your experience and effort will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and reliability of our analytics infrastructure.

Finally, as a member of a lean data team, you will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of data responsibilities, including working with the rest of the data team to identify key data projects, managing project intake, and developing and implementing training programs to enhance self-service data capabilities across the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and maintain our data platform and pipeline lifecycle management, from strategy to execution while ensuring data quality and availability

  • Oversee third party lifecycle management, including vendor management, contract renewals, compliance, and security administration to ensure timely completion of required tasks and risk reduction

  • Support compliance and risk events, and manage data privacy policies to safeguard sensitive information

  • Conduct privacy and risk management to protect Resy and customer data

  • Gather requirements, identify new data sources, participate in data architecture decisions, and write great documentation and tests for our data stack

  • Implement Snowflake, Fivetran, and Looker optimization techniques to improve performance and reduce cost

  • Use Python, Unix shell scripting, Jenkins, and GitHub to build new analytics solutions and collaborate on technical projects

  • Use SQL and Python to model and analyze data, to interpret trends and patterns, and to translate them into stakeholder insights.

  • Refactor DBT code and set up tests and monitoring

  • Use Datadog to monitor data pipeline and to troubleshoot issues

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing, RevOps, Restaurant) to identify and prioritize strategic projects

  • Write LookML to facilitate self-serve Looker reporting capabilities and educate stakeholders to make data-informed decisions

  • Be an integral part of a growing team that develops innovative data solutions for Resy and its clients

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 4 years in a cloud database administrator role or a related role such as an analytics engineer, data engineer, data analyst, data scientist, data architect. Experience in a high growth company preferred. Master’s Degree or PhD is a plus.

  • Extensive experience with the modern data stack, both developing and ops/admin, particularly with Looker, Snowflake, Fivetran, and DBT

  • Extensive experience in data modeling, ELT development, and data warehousing.

  • Extensive experience with software development practices; version control, code review, CI/CD

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a resourceful and creative approach to tackling challenges

  • Proficient writing code in Python and SQL

  • Advocate for a culture of process, governance, quality, and performance

  • Extensive experience implementing data governance programs

  • Deep understanding of privacy, risk, compliance and regulatory concerns and the ability to articulate the impact to partners and stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Passionate about fostering a data-driven culture and driving impact through data

  • Experience in the restaurant and food tech industry highly preferred

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
