Jacobs Resident Engineer - Marine in New York, New York

Our Ports & Maritime team is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee the construction of one of our many complex maritime infrastructure development and coastal resilience projects that we are delivering for clients throughout the region and globally.

As a Marine Resident Engineer, based full-time at one of the region’s leading container terminals located in Bayonne, New Jersey, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the construction of the berth upgrades designed by Jacobs. The work will include pile driving, structural steel, precast and cast-in-place concrete construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitor construction, coordinate field and site issues

• Maintain official set of contract documents on site such as contract drawings, RFI’s and Submittals

• Coordinate between the Contractor and Jacobs’ office engineering support

• Direct client interface and coordination

• Prepare field reports

• Document field conditions through photos and other records

• Coordinate inspections with the Contractor

• Monitor Contractor’s QA/QC effort

• Provide constructability insight

• Conduct RFI reviews

• Review of contractor’s As-Built documents

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

• Professional Engineering (PE) license

• Substantial years of professional experience as a resident engineer and/or design engineer with extensive construction oversight experience

• Experience in the design and construction of marine and waterfront projects, preferably in the NY/NJ area.

• Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification a plus

• Excellent understanding of marine construction

• OHSA 10 certification

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience working with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a plus

• A valid driver’s license
