Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate. Dr. Joseph Palamar is seeking a part-time research assistant for his for his epidemiology study examining the epidemiology of ketamine use. The study is funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
The ideal candidate is a committed, highly motivated individual who can work effectively, independently, and in small teams. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and students enrolled at NYU are encouraged to apply. The research assistant will assist in multiple aspects of Dr. Palamars study with a particular focus on recruiting and surveying clinicians who prescribe ketamine and on patients who are prescribed ketamine (largely done in an office setting). The candidate may also be involved in surveying college students (daytime hours) and/or nightclub attendees (nighttime hours) in the New York tri-state area. Familiarity with the electronic dance music scene is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversee tracking of ketamine prescribers.
    • Oversee tracking of veterinary offices.
    • Contact prescribers and conduct brief surveys over the phone.
    • Help oversee advertising to recruit study participants.
    • Send surveys to clinicians and patients via email and track and compensate completers.
    • Depending on workload and availability, assist in the surveying of college students and/or nightclub attendees in the tristate area.
    • Help oversee other administrative and research-related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in public health, psychology, sociology, or related preferred.
Previous work experience in an office or research lab environment preferred, but not required.
Excellent English and oral communication skills.
Socially outgoing candidates preferred.
Interest in the epidemiology of drug use.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25,621.98-29,247.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
