Position Summary

The Center for Translational & Computational Neuroimmunology (CTCN), in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is a hub for large-scale translational human studies that integrate rigorous application of advanced laboratory techniques with cutting-edge computational methods. The CTCN includes a Neuroimmunology Core that is part of the national Alzheimer's Disease Research Center network in the U.S., and it specializes in the optimization and deployment of novel experimental platforms to support the projects of CTCN investigators and collaborators.

We are currently seeking a research assistant to join our research effort in the CNS tissue-based profiling. We are deploying cutting-edge multiparametric flow cytometry and transcriptomic technologies coupled to a manual and automated analysis pipeline to enable the large-scale projects that are currently funded.

Responsibilities

* Reagent preparation (solution, buffer and media).

* DNA/RNA extraction and purification from r cells, PCR/qPCR and molecular cloning.

* Antibody master mix preparation and cell staining.

* Analysis of cells using multiparametric Flow Cytometry.

* May operate and maintain moderate to complex lab equipment.

* Oversee sample banking and performs routine QC for different samples types.

* Follow SOPs and implementing new Flow Cytometry and transcriptomic protocols and procedures.

- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
