New York University Project Coordinator, National Science Foundation C-STEM Alliance (Part-Time) in New York, New York

The C-STEM Alliance is an institutional partnership - between New York University, The University of Pennsylvania, and Northwestern University - aimed at addressing systemic inequities in STEM fields by supporting the recruitment, development, and promotion of underrepresented minority (URM) doctoral students, postdoctoral schols, and early-career faculty. This project focuses on conducting institutional self-assessments to identify barriers affecting these groups, developing a five-year equity strategic plan, and building a sustainable network that creates equitable opportunities in STEM academic. The C-STEM Alliance also aims to secure future funding to expand its impact and reach.

The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in coordinating the various activities of the C-STEM Alliance. This role involves organizing the project's logistics, managing communications, assisting with data collection for institutional assessments, and supporting the development of strategic plans. The Project Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact for stakeholders, including faculty, students, and external partners. They will work closely with institutional PIs and other project leads to ensure the smooth implementation of the project and its deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day proejct activities, ensuring that timelines and milestones are met.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of institutional self-assessment plans across partner institutions.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between insitutional teams, PIs, and external evaluators.

  • Organize and support regular meetings, workshops, and events related to the project, including potential C-STEM Summer Institutes and mentoring programs.

  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for project assessments, including coordinating surveys and interviews.

  • Monitor and track the progress of the project, including managing checklists and other tracking tolls.

  • Prepare and disseminate project-related materials, reports, and presentations for stakeholders and funders.

  • Coordinate logistics for C-STEM mentoring networks, professional development workshops, and other training programs.

  • Assist with preparing proposals for future funding and disseminating findings to broader academic and public audiences.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this part-time, 20-hour per week position is $35-$42/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be either fully remote or hybrid (one day per week).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, education, STEM, or a related field

  • 3 years of experience in project coordination or administration, preferably in an academic or non-profit setting.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in a variety of technology applications needed for the role.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Experience working on projects related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in STEM education.

  • Familiarity with academic research environments and institutional policies related to higher education.

  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Familiarity with grant writing and proposal development.
