Fedcap Program Manager of The Women's Project in New York, New York

What You’ll Do

As Program Manager for The Women’s Project (TWP), you’ll report to the Sr. Director and lead a program that helps women and gender-nonconforming people who are being provided an alternative to pre-trial detention and incarceration through participation in the Project. You’ll lead a team of six providing services that include comprehensive care coordination, court support, wellness groups, employment and education assistance, and connections to treatment and housing. Although TWP does not provide behavioral health care treatment, you’ll use your clinical and behavioral health expertise to inform staff and enhance the quality of services provided including intake, reentry care coordination, referrals, service connection plans, wellness programming, and aftercare. You’ll provide structured supervision and support, ensuring that all case management/reentry care coordination services are high quality, trauma-informed, gender-responsive, and appropriately individualized.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Directly supervising six team members ( two LMSWs, 2 Reentry Care Coordinators, one aftercare success coach, and one employment specialist) including individual weekly check-ins to monitor caseload progress, organization and leadership of regular team meetings, preparation of annual performance reviews, and identification and proposal of appropriate training opportunities.

  • Overseeing and improving the referral and intake process to maximize efficiency and scale, including administration of assessment tools, interviews, and timelines.

  • Devising and delivering a new aftercare success program to support participants' focus on long-term stabilization during transition through the completion of the program.

  • Providing timely and critical feedback to staff on the development and modification of individualized service plans, goal plans, and aftercare success plans to ensure that planned interventions are robust, effective, clinically appropriate, and feasible.

  • Planning, development, and management of all participant wellness programming, including two to four weekly workshops/events (virtual and in-person), ensuring that programming is culturally engaging, trauma-informed, and gender-responsive. Programming will be a combination of TWP-led (including a series on Seeking Safety and Anger Management, and the curriculum created and facilitated by the Clinical Manager) and community-led (developed with community partners and external consultants, including Nurturing Parenting (https://www.nurturingparenting.com/) ). All programs will relate to the 5 social determinants of health (https://health.gov/healthypeople/priority-areas/social-determinants-health) .

  • Cultivating relationships with the reentry and social services community throughout New York City, including arranging introductions and site visits, facilitating virtual meet-and-greets for staff, and building internal directories for housing, behavioral health, benefits, education, and other resources.

  • Conducting regular reviews of the case management system to ensure quality and completion of important program records, including intake, case notes, service/goal plans, and external referrals.

  • Assisting Senior Director with data collection, reporting to Fedcap and funders, program design/development, hiring, written procedures, and other operational functions as needed.

You’re a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Masters in Social Work (MSW) or PhD in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.

  • LCSW (preferred); alternatively, LMSW or LMHC

  • SIFI certification (preferred, but not required)

  • Significant social work experience (7 to 10+ years) including at least 3+ years supervising social workers and/or case managers in the social services field.

  • Experience delivering services to people impacted by the criminal legal system, particularly women.

  • Experience working with and knowledge of reentry, social service, and behavioral health service providers in the five boroughs of New York City.

  • Experience planning and leading participant/client groups.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, and composure when confronted with people in crisis.

  • Comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback in the context of supervisor/employee relationships.

  • Knowledge of:

  • Alternatives to incarceration.

  • Gender-responsive services.

  • Trauma-informed care.

  • Culturally informed and inclusive programming.

    Compensation

  • $87,000-$92,000

    The Women's Project (TWP) is a Wildcat Service Corporation community-based program aimed at securing the release of women and gender-nonconforming people held in New York City's jails and preventing the incarceration of women in New York State prisons. TWP staff provide comprehensive care coordination, court support, wellness groups, employment and education assistance, and connections to treatment and housing.
