The School of Fashion (https://www.newschool.edu/parsons/fashion-school/) at Parsons School of Design is seeking Part-Time Faculty to teach in the MPS Fashion Management Program. Academically rigorous and industry-focused, the MPS graduate degree in Fashion Management responds to the major restructuring of developed and emerging fashion sectors, business models, and economies worldwide. Unlike traditional Master degrees in design and management, this program fuses in-depth business logic, economic frameworks and specific values of sustainability, social value creation and responsible entrepreneurial innovation. In doing so, the MPS program supports and ultimately aspires to define an emerging discipline within the fashion industry and any fashion-related sector. Students in the program focus on the evolving global economy and are exposed to sophisticated real-world perspectives on operations, sustainability, management, leadership, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, design innovation, and design research.

Course specific additional qualifications required:

• An advanced degree in business or design discipline or equivalent relevant professional fashion industry experience and/or entrepreneurial experience.

• Experience and interest in design research

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

• Interest in creative design leadership of new technical and strategic solutions

• Knowledge of innovation and emerging business models

• Demonstrated relevant fashion or fashion-related experience

Part-time faculty at The New School bargain collectively through Academics Come Together, ACT - UAW , Local 7902.

Part-Time Faculty are responsible for: developing course content and syllabi in consultation with Program Leadership; attending all classes they are assigned to teach as scheduled by the University; reporting any emergency faculty absences to the PTF Associate Director and Program Leadership; recording student attendance in a timely manner within two days of each class session; and adhering to all University policies (ie., FERPA , exclusive use of New School email, etc.), as outlined in the ACT - UAW Local 7902 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Studio Hourly Rate: $112.50/contact hr

Seminar Hourly Rate: $141/contact hr

Work Mode: On-Campus & Synchronous Online

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a fashion relevant field

• 3-5 years of University-level teaching or equivalent industry experience

• U.S. Work Authorization (i.e., U.S. Passport or EAD card)

• Ability to adhere to University COVID -19 Policy and requirements.
