Job Description

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSS’s technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems.
MAP Systems Support within the office of Client Base Enterprise Services creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems utilized by 5000 plus users.
Information Technology Services (ITS) Division of MAP Systems Support is recruiting to fill one (1) Computer Associate (Operations) Level II, to function as MAP Systems Support Coordinator, who will:
Support MAP Systems by monitoring data updates and queries used in the creation of daily, weekly,
and monthly report generation by applications and related automated work streams in order to
identify recurring issues, isolate equipment failure, and minimize downtime.
Assist supervisor in the establishment/enhancement of MAP Systems applications schedules,
processing specifications, and administrative reporting to ensure their utilization by MAP
organizational units.
Diagnose errors in WMS, Emedy, and Edits Plus and troubleshoot systems to minimize downtime
in use of these application/systems by the end users. Document MAP state generated error
messages and resolution. Document real time MAP system fixes so that this procedural material
can be utilized by the MAP office in the future. Advise users as to appropriate methodologies to
follow relating to the proper use of WMS, Emedy and Edits Plus after supervisory approval of
forms and procedures utilized in daily activities.
Make recommendations to immediate supervisor to be shared with Senior Management related to
improvements in MAP systems application support and/or operations based on the development,
analysis and interpretation of quantitative data and models that assess MAP incidents.
Qualifications
A certificate from an accredited technical school (approximately 675 hours) with a specialization in computer operations, and two years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience, in a large-scale networked, multi- tiered, or mainframe computer environment, or two years of satisfactory data communications network experience working in a mainframe or multi-tiered computer environment; or
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described
in "1" above; or
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2",or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least two years of full-time experience as described in "1" above
