HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY:

The position of Manager, Consolidated Reporting is tasked with the responsibilities required to maintain the MTA Consolidated instance of the Hyperion budgeting system, which is critical for developing MTA financial plans and reporting actual results. The position also ensures that the Agency Hyperion applications and data are integrated properly with the Consolidated instance for accurate and smooth transmission of data, and maintains and revises financial reports, web forms, rules and programming scripts and verifies that calculations are accurate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains and revises, when necessary, the MTA Consolidated instance of the Hyperion budgeting system, which is critical for developing MTA financial plans and reporting actual results. Also ensures that the Agency Hyperion applications and data are integrated properly with the Consolidated instance for accurate and smooth transmission of data, and maintains and revises financial reports, web forms, rules and programming scripts and verifies that calculations are accurate.

  • Updates monthly MTA cash flow projections, which are essential for maintaining MTA’s fiscal solvency.

  • Prepares consolidated budget reports, including financials, subsidies, debt service, utilization, and headcount.

  • Reviews actual financial and operating results versus budgets and forecasts.

  • Works with Finance, Treasury, and the Comptroller’s Office to ensure funding sources are incorporated into financial plans and reported actual results.

  • Works with Open Data team to ensure financial plans and actual results are correctly completely aligned with internal financial documents and assists in resolving data compatibility issues.

  • Prepares invoice to City of New York for reimbursement of Staten Island Railway operating cost. Works with MTA Bus in preparing invoice to City of New York for reimbursement of MTA Bus operating cost, including proper accounting of MTA Bus debt service billable to the City.

  • Performs special projects and participate as needed on MTA-wide issues that require budgetary or financial expertise.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have knowledge of accounting terminology and generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Must have knowledge of Hyperion Planning Systems and other system applications.

  • Must have knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting techniques.

  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including macro development and pivot tables.

  • Must have knowledge of government taxation and subsidy funding as they are related to sustaining MTA Consolidated Services operations.

  • Outstanding report writing and good communication skills required.

  • Must have excellent collaboration, and problem-solving skills with ability to convey information both in a precise technical manner and in a concise understandable manner.

  • Must be comfortable working as part of a group as well as independently and must be able to perform the functions of this position without the need for direct hands-on supervision from the immediate supervisor.

  • Must be a self-starter with initiative and ability to resolve issues without constant supervision.

  • Must have a flair for numerical data with knowledge of accounting and the ability to interpret and present figures with a willingness to learn and keep oneself updated with new system developments.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance, business, or business administration). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • A minimum of six or more years of progressive financial (preferably budgeting) experience with major government or corporate entities is required. A Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for two years of experience.

    PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of MTA and Agency functions and operations.

  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body.
