Win is a leading provider of shelter, supportive housing, and innovative programs for families with children experiencing homelessness, in New York City. Our equity-driven Way to Win model takes a multifaceted approach to overcoming barriers to stable housing by offering essential services, including childcare, employment support, legal aid, high-impact youth programs, and housing assistance. We are seeking dedicated individuals who share our mission to end homelessness and provide families with the innovative support they need to secure permanent housing.

Purpose of the Opportunity

As the Manager of Communications at Win, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Director of Communications to shape and execute our organization-wide communication strategies. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, you'll assist in managing all internal and external communication efforts, public affairs, social media strategy, marketing collateral, fundraising, and website management. You will also lead and partner with the Coordinator of Communications to ensure that information flows smoothly and consistently to all stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Internal & External Communications

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications in developing communications strategies that will expand the organization’s reach and deepen impact.

  • Support the Director of Communication with new campaigns, review outgoing communications work with the fundraising team on communication to board members and donors.

  • Support Win's crisis communication strategy to ensure timely, consistent, and accurate communication to mitigate damage, maintain trust of stakeholders, and facilitate recovery support should a crisis occur.

  • Support the Director of Communications to develop inventive, digitally centered communications strategies that will expand the organization's reach and deepen impact.

  • Ensure that all outgoing information aligns seamlessly with Win's mission and core messaging, maintaining organizational consistency and upholding our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Justice and inclusion as a priority.

  • Build rapport and maintain engagement with internal and external constituents.

    Marketing & Public Relations

  • Lead projects in support of Win’s Public Affairs and Advocacy efforts, identifying and strategizing on earned media opportunities, coordinating any necessary collateral and/or interagency participation in such opportunities, managing advocacy across social media platforms such as X and Instagram.

  • Develop and produce marketing collateral, such as brochures, annual reports, newsletters, presentations, email campaigns, and fundraising initiatives to effectively communicate the impact of our programs and initiatives for donors and other Win constituencies.

  • Define and refine messages/themes for use in marketing materials, such as those for fundraising, advocacy, and other external purposes, to reflect both earned media and marketing strategies.

  • Support the Director of Communications with influencer and celebrity partnership strategies to leverage the Win brand and strengthen ties with our community

  • Photographing as needed for events and publications and maintaining the photo database.

Social Media Strategy

  • Manage Win’s social media strategy by tracking the scheduling, posting, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of social media platforms (IG, FB, X, LinkedIn).

  • Create content to be used across social media platforms, ranging from graphics to short-form videos.

  • Assist with branding strategies for Win's website, collateral materials, logos, et. Monitor the public opinion of our brand across social media platforms, blogs and other forums.

Website Management

  • Manage website content and overall maintenance on a regular basis.

  • Support content development for website and other social media platforms

  • Manage web team meetings

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Must have outstanding written, verbal, and social communication skills.

  • Must have expertise in social media publication and production.

  • Must be proficient on graphic software such as Adobe, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Must be able to sit at a computer for the majority of the workday.

  • Must use public transportation to travel to Win sites and other related meetings.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, 3 years experience in communications, marketing or content creation. Support content development for website and other social media platforms.

  • Knowledge of graphic design and desktop publishing programs including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Excellent Copywriting and copy editing skills.

  • Video Editing/Videography skills

  • Strong Graphic Design portfolio
