Scholastic Magazines + Systems Technician in New York, New York

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY/ RESPONSIBILITIES

Support

Provides first-line Magazines+ and Teacher Resources technical support, providing full all-around hardware, software, and application support to approximately 200 users. Diagnoses problems—listening to users’ descriptions and then making own investigation—and solves them quickly, reliably and consistently.

Documentation

Helps to create end-user documentation so that, at in some cases, staff can carry out installations, fixes, corrections, and adjustments themselves.

Equipment Purchases

Reports on and helps to assess individual computer hardware age, performance, and appropriateness of assignment.

Corporate STS

Works and coordinates with corporate STS deskside support staff, exchanging information, experiences and assistance.

Stock

Helps tracks a stock of cables, connectors, adapters, keyboards and mice. Keeps current on which systems utilize which ports, connectors, cables and peripherals. Assists staff members with technology orders and requests.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must understand computer networks and technologies.

Must know Apple product line, current and recent, including hardware and operating systems, their recent update histories, typical problems and recovery techniques.

Must know application software used in publishing environment, including bit not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Microsoft Office applications, Internet-based storage and transfer techniques and services. Must recognize typical problems and know recovery techniques.

Must be able to communicate and work with a range of individual personalities and management levels in creative/publishing environment.
