Lecturer - Earth & Atmospheric Sciences

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for a full-time, faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in Fall 2024. The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at CCNY is a vibrant, diverse department located in Harlem, serving one hundred majors and minors in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS), Environmental Earth System Science (EESS), and Environmental Engineering with master's programs in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and a doctoral program (through the CUNY Graduate Center). The lecturer sought will teach department service and core courses. Our programs have a longstanding commitment to training students from underserved and minority populations.

Successful applicants will be responsible for performing teaching and mentorship/advisement duties and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments, including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• Ability to teach successfully in large- lecturer setting

The ideal candidate demonstrates a proven ability to teach large lectures (200 students) as well as small classes, in climate change, earth system science, environmental geology, the

atmosphere, and global hazards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in the earth sciences

• 3 years of teaching experience

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: $72,280 - $79,808
