Pietra Lead Platform Engineer in New York, New York

Responsible for provisioning and maintaining the complex infrastructure required by our growing ecommerce website, consulting internally on application architectures to best utilize that infrastructure, and create and support of tooling relied upon by all engineering teams. Will create internal tools, improve, and enhance Pietra’s build and deploy processes, and maintain high availability of production and non-production environments. Further, the Lead Platform Engineer will be responsible for providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders and enforcing team standards and best practices. Specific job duties include: Build reliable engineering infrastructure and ensure site reliabilities with backend development programming languages such as Javascript, Python and SQL; Lead critical technical discussions and decisions; Enable program teams to achieve their goals through a stable and extensible foundation; Build data team to empower owners of all business units to make data-driven decisions; Designs solutions after gathering business and technical requirements; Develops software solutions that are high performing and meet technical standards; Support testing and problem solving/debugging of solutions; Implement software solutions following best practices; Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, develop roadmaps, and maximize platform efficiency; Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical architecture deliverables; Develop best practices, audits, and controls for platform usage; Work closely with other Product and Engineering leaders to understand their pain points to drive the platform roadmap; Maintain infrastructure with attention to transparency, security, availability, and cost; Be held accountable for the efficacy of solutions and our ability to execute against the platform roadmap; Provide training and lead other platform engineers towards best practices; Report to leadership on progress and platform adoption; Work with engineers on the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of important cloud services; Develop and deploy tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting; Set up CI/CD Pipelines to automate builds and deployments; Create long-range platform requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement; Participate in deployment planning and defect triage meetings and develop effective plans to test and deploy software to target environments; Identify and document issues, develop mitigation plans and assess risks to ensure mitigation plans are implemented as needed; Complete project work within the estimated time for each area of work defined; and report status against the project schedule and meet target dates established in the protect schedule.Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related field of study, and Seven (7) years of experience in a software engineering or related role within a rapidly evolving, high-technology software company. Work experience must have included: Knowledge of software development processes including coding, system architecture, and design; Experience with advanced programming languages including Ruby, Python, Javascript, SQL, and PyTorch; Knowledge of cloud services including AWS and machine learning frameworks; Experience handling robust scalable systems of over a million users, efficiently handling over 1,000 queries per second (QPS); and Experience architecting and managing large-scale machine learning systems, with a focus on prediction and optimization problems leveraging deep learning technologies.Interested applicants may apply online at: https://www.pietrastudio.com/careers
