Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Manager in New York, New York

Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Manager in Lower Manhattan area. This role operates in the education industry, where you will be responsible for a range of HR functions, including the administration of human resources operations, payroll processing, and employee relations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily HR operations and respond to inquiries from the community regarding benefits, payroll, employee relations, school policies, time and attendance, employee training and compliance

• Serve as the main administrator of the HRIS, working closely with dedicated representatives to offer a seamless experience for end users and providing basic support as needed

• Support with full-cycle semimonthly payroll for all employees

• Work in collaboration with the Dean of Faculty to manage the employee relations/compliance, ensuring alignment of policies with strategic goals, mission, and values

• Facilitate onboarding and offboarding activities for all employees, ensuring a smooth transition both into and out of the organization

• Administer leaves of absence for all employees, including FMLA, NY Paid Family Leave, NYS disability, and workers’ compensation

• Collaborate with benefits brokers, partner vendors, and the CFO/COO to provide a comprehensive benefits package to employees at a competitive price, coordinating annual open enrollment activities

• Participate in annual 403(b) audits

• Administer employee training, including anti-harassment and mandated reporter requirements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws

• Utilize skills in Benefit Functions, Compensation Administration, Employee Relations, Paycom, Benefits Administration, HR Compliance, HR Policy

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resources role

• Proficiency in HR systems

• Demonstrable experience in Benefits Administration

• Knowledge of HR Compliance and related regulations

• Familiarity with Compensation Administration processes

• Proven experience in managing Employee Relations

• Ability to develop and implement HR Policies

• Experience in managing Benefit Functions

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

• Professional certification in Human Resources (like PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP) is desirable

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage others.
