JPMorgan Chase HR Data Governance - Executive Director in New York, New York

As a Data Governance Director, reporting to the Chief Data and Analytics Officer for HR and Employee Experience, will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the bank's data governance frameworks for the Human Resources and Employee Experience organizations. This role is central to our ability to innovate quickly in the rapidly evolving data, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning environment and achieve major improvements in capability and productivity, while ensuring appropriate control of regulatory, financial, and reputational risk. The role involves leading our management of all facets of data risk and governance, including but not limited to Access Control, Data Use, Data Quality, Data Privacy, and Retention and Destruction. The successful candidate will develop an implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, coordinating with the Product leaders, Risk, Control, Compliance, and Audit functions, and the Firmwide data organization, ensuring that HR and Employee Experience data practices align with Product requirements, corporate standards, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust data governance strategy that advances our Product objectives, while aligning with our global policies, regulatory requirements, risk appetite, and budgetary constraints.

  • Manage all aspects of data governance, including Access Control, Data Use, Data Quality, and Data Privacy, and Data Retention and Destruction.

  • Collaborate with our HR and Employee Experience Data Asset Management Control, Compliance, and Audit functions to monitor and evaluate HR data practices; driving improvements and ensuring implementation of best practices and ensure appropriate implementation of data access and data quality controls.

  • Represent HR and Employee Experience in all firmwide data governance forums, advocating for sustainable and compliant HR data practices and policies.

  • Create and manage scalable, employee friendly processes that enable rapid proactive evaluation, modification, and decisioning of new data use cases, proactive designation of high risk data fields for elevated data quality monitoring, as well as comprehensive and immediate reactive responses to data privacy incidents.

  • Proactively educate our workforce on best data practices, fostering a culture of data security and compliance.

  • Define, refine, and ensure the implementation of appropriate data handling processes and procedures across all HR functions.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of global data protection laws and regulations relevant to multinational corporations.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage comprehensive data governance programs across a large, complex organization.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with multiple teams across different geographic locations.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels.
