Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Examination Technician, NB-0503-IV in New York, New York

Summary As an Examination Technician, you will perform technician work in support of Large Bank Supervision examinations. The work requires a practical knowledge of the banking industry, bank examination process, consumer compliance programs, and OCC's supervisory information systems and supervisory programs. Large Bank Supervision New York, NY (Alternate location option available) Responsibilities As an Examination Technician, you will: Provide assistance to examiners during bank examinations. Perform and complete specialized tasks, such as transaction testing, Quality Control reviews, and preparing reports. Perform a wide variety of technical/administrative tasks, as assigned. Conduct research of laws and regulations to prepare for bank examinations and other bank supervision-related assignments, and search external sources for financial news releases specific to assigned banks. Review and/or track exam work papers and preliminary information for quarterly reviews from databases, loan files, and external sources. Review other agency ROEs (e.g., FRB, FDIC, CFPB), and input findings into supervisory systems. Review audit report findings and ratings to assess effectiveness of audit programs. Assign preliminary examination component ratings. Update statistical data in OCC's supervisory systems. Compile preliminary information for periodic monitoring and risk assessments from various OCC supervisory systems and prepare spreadsheets and tables to track various audits and examination information. Provide administrative and technical support for the assigned organization which includes maintaining schedules, arranging meetings, and preparing correspondence, charts, and documents. Prepare synopses of industry trends/issues for field staff. Review bank records including Call Reports and other bank reports. Trace financial transactions, identify discrepancies, and prepare spreadsheets to reflect the source(s) of discrepancies, and corrective action(s) required to resolve discrepancies. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Click here for important information about OCC ethics standards. Qualifications Skills and/or experience utilizing CRA Wiz to provide examination support is strongly preferred but not required. You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-III pay band level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Researching, assembling, and analyzing financial data to validate financial statements or reports; AND Processing financial transactions, creating and maintaining financial spreadsheets/accounts, and resolving account discrepancies. OR Directly related graduate education. As a general rule, education is not creditable at NB-IV and above for most clerical/administrative support positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. This position may be filled in an alternate location (any U.S. location of the OCC) provided the location is cost effective, operationally efficient, and complies with the standards contained in the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. If in an alternative location, when traveling to New York, NY, you will be expected to be onsite at the bank location no later than 1:30 pm on the first workday, departing no earlier than noon on the last workday and there should be no travel on Sunday unless there is a business need approved by your authorizing official in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and/or OCC FTR Supplement.
