City of New York EEO Liaison Network Coordinator in New York, New York

Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the New York Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our city by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Equity & Inclusion is responsible for overall organizational development and implementation of the New York City Police Department’s Equity and Inclusion programs and strategic framework. The goal of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is to foster equity through policy and regulation, both in and out of the workplace, and to increase supplier diversity for the New York City Police Department (NYPD). This is accomplished through transparency and accountability by applying nationwide best practices with our internal and external stakeholders.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Liaison Network (EEOLN) Coordinator will serve as a Program Manager, responsible for ensuring each command within the Department has an EEO liaison assigned. The coordinator is responsible for creating the Annual EEO Liaison Network Conference, in which all liaisons are in attendance, establishing speakers and other events as components of the conference. The coordinator must communicate periodically with each EEO Liaison and is responsible for completing quarterly audits to ensure there is always a liaison assigned to every command within the department. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, implementation and evaluation of the EEO Liaison Network, to include the coordination of all aspects of the EEOLN program: recruitment, screening of applicants, on-going communication with liaisons, organizing events including orientation sessions, training, and recognition/award ceremonies.

  • Prepare all EEOLN reporting.

  • Conduct various research projects related to policies, procedures, and key programs in OEI and the NYPD, performing in-depth research and analyses and providing insight to inform decision making.

  • Responsible for researching and evaluating trainings and informational sessions in which to present to the liaisons on a regular basis, as well as hold conferences and webinars.

  • Disseminate relevant OEI office materials, messages and information to network on a regular basis.

  • Create a yearly plan of trainings, recruitment sessions, conferences, and other related activities, to be established at the beginning of each fiscal year.

  • Perform quarterly audits of EEOLN members to ensure all precincts are current and up to date with an EEO Liaison.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience requiring independent decision-making concerning program management or planning, allocation for resources and the scheduling and assignment of work, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or

  2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or

  3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of

satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1"

above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial,

executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the

supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than

moderate difficulty; or

  1. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all

candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1", "2" or "3" above. Education above

the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative

experience (but not for the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory

experience described in "1", "2" or "3" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits

from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½

years.
