The successful candidate will serve as Director of Public Safety Critical Systems Infrastructure, in support of NYC’s management of the Office of Technology & Innovation’s (OTI) critical facilities infrastructure for the 911, 311, and Citywide data centers; Manage and oversee the Public Safety Critical Facilities Infrastructure team to ensure proper and timely execution of all preventive maintenance and critical upgrades to UPSs, PDUs, Generators, and HVACs in 2 Metrotech, 11 Metrotech, 59 Maiden Lane, 80 Maiden Lane, Brooklyn Army Terminal, and 2 Lafayette locations to meet focused maintenance tasks and testing. Identify and maintain all OTI vendor contracts responsible for maintaining critical systems and services throughout the facilities aforementioned; identify and manage budget and scope to ensure contracts are current and inclusive of all critical systems equipment and component needs; Manage and complete delivery of critical systems data center build portions and proposed construction and project upgrades.

Responsibilities will include: Support a portfolio of existing site locations in various stages of production, construction, and operations to facilitate quality delivery and on schedule; support and manage the development of site requirements that meet permit and lease agreement needs to include local expectations; track and monitor ongoing site development including lease agreement management; assess and report site risks and opportunities by compiling and analyzing site-specific information, such as, permitting, land use, legal, physical, and financial implications; create and manage scalable processes to monitor for progress and risks at each site location; schedule periodic and frequent visits to assist vendors with all work pertaining to maintenance, construction upgrades, and design; manage site property and operation management personnel; coordinate and secure all necessary site access approvals for vendors, equipment deliveries, vehicles and work schedules; assist and report with resolution of all site issues, outages, and outside influenced changes; compile site-specific historical data to generate reports with recommendations to resolving problematic scenarios; attend and manage regular meetings with vendors to discuss site maintenance, construction project, and operational related work, as required; manage all aspects of critical systems to include all aspects of environmental conditions, monitoring including FM200 systems, generator, UPSs, PDUs, HVACs, and other data center critical tasks which serve the first responder communications environment.

HOURS/SHIFT

Day - Due to the necessary technical management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or

  2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or

  3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
