Scholastic Director, Benefits and Wellness in New York, New York

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a critical role within the Total Rewards team. Primary responsibilities include aligning with the SVP, Head of Total Rewards to define the OneScholastic benefits strategy and manage the benefits team. Drive health, retirement, and wellness programs to attract, engage and retain our employees. In this role you will be accountable for the design, development, enhancement, enablement, and implementation of the benefits and wellness strategy with a focus on wellness, retention and market competitiveness. You will work in a highly visible and collaborative environment on Benefits & Wellness, 401k and other voluntary benefits. This position reports to the Head of Total Rewards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the SVP, Head of Total Rewards to set the strategic direction, planning, alignment, design and oversight of all benefit and wellness plans and programs. Oversight of various benefits platforms including myBenefits, Benefits Service Center, Benefit mailboxes, parts of HR Portal or individual vendors.

  • Manage the enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of all benefits and Wellness programs, including all Health & Wellness, 401k, retiree benefits, leave of absences and other voluntary benefits.

  • Partner with fellow Total Rewards team members to create and drive a holistic benefits strategy to attract and retain a diverse workforce. Additionally, partner with the finance team and legal to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations. Collaborate with HR team members to understand the competitive landscape for our biggest office locations.

  • Manage relationships with benefit vendors (i.e. brokers, insurance carriers, record-keepers), trustees and other administrative service providers. Lead contract negotiations to ensure the benefits strategy aligns with overall company-wide strategic goals.

  • Provide leadership, support, and coaching to the benefits and wellness team.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for all benefit and wellness programs. Create and/or maintain benefit policies, procedures, and program material.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT ( Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent collaborator with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Expert organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects at once.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Expert Knowledge of current and pending federal and state regulations regarding employee benefit programs (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, Sec. 125, FMLA, etc.…) preferred.

Expertise with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as experience with benefit administration platforms and HRIS systems (Workday preferred).

Experience and Education:

Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in the benefits field with demonstrated experience managing multiple benefits plans and programs. Ability to work efficiently within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Professional certification preferred CEBS or CBP certification preferred.
