Nielsen Software Engineer (Contract) in New York, New York

The tech team at NCS is focused heavily on internal clients and capabilities research to improve existing methodologies and develop new products, as well as to execute custom research for external clients. All of this tends to be within the Marketing ROI and or audience targeting space.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, programming languages, and problem-solving skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strong development skills in Java

  • Experience in SQL

  • Knowledgeable and competent in RDBMS systems such as Snowflake, and/or Oracle

  • Expert ability to translate requirements into design and code based on the requirements

  • Expert ability to work effectively as a team member, across project teams, and independently

  • Strong ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills to solve design and coding problems

  • Experience with H2O

  • Experience with Maven/Tomcat

  • Experience in backend, and middleware development

  • Ability to Unit Test the code

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with Director, R&D and understand the concepts

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related

  • Minimum of 5-10 years IT experience with at least 7 years in software development

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages

  • Experience in CPG or Media research

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be an hourly rate of $100.00, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at NCS is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.
