Citigroup Corporate Banking Director, Metals & Mining Industry Specialist - New York in New York, New York

The Corporate Banking Industry Specialist will utilize their industry experience to conduct critical technical reviews of mining properties in support of our Metals and Mining franchise. This will be achieved by:

  • Working closely with Citi’s Product and Risk partners to deliver the Citi platform and be the best for our clients

  • Being viewed internally and externally by clients as a specialist in relevant sector

  • Being a strong team player and helping develop the junior talent

Responsibilities:

  • Actively engaged with coverage and/or product bankers in the origination, structuring, and execution of transactions and financings and foster and leverage ongoing global relationships inside and outside of the organization

  • Manage credit risk of the client portfolio and allocate capital prudently through partnership with senior credit officers and capital management

  • Partner with ICG partners to execute episodic transactions and drive client planning by delivering product agnostic solutions, client access, and effective capital allocation

  • Actively plans and oversees technical due diligence and extensive research and analysis in collaboration with other experts to access credit worthiness of projects

  • Provide key inputs into financial modeling

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience with 5 to 15 years of direct industry experience

  • Thorough understanding of Metals and Mining credit drivers, key success factors, and macro industry issues including factors driving commodity prices, operating and capital costs, and ESRM risks

  • Demonstrated collaboration with multiple corporate banking stakeholders including coverage teams, risk and products with applying knowledge in evaluating the industry in multiple geographies and with various commodities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate banking business including related products, pertinent regulations and the lending and credit approval process

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, negotiation, presentation sales, client-relationship building, analytical and credit skills

  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Experience in originating, structuring and executing transactions and financings

  • Experience with large, global corporate clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities products

  • Experience in recruiting and managing diverse teams with commitment to talent development and ability to manage and work across a diverse and multi-country matrix structure

  • Series 7 and 63 licenses preferred

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering in an appropriate discipline (i.e., Geology or Mining Engineering)

  • Professional Engineering License strongly preferred

  • Credential from one or more global technical societies including Chartered Professional (CP -AusIMM), Registered Member (RM-SME) or Qualified Professional (QP-MMSA), etc
