Computer Support Technician

Pay $30-35hr

Our client is seeking a Computer Support Technician to provide technical and customer assistance to customers, such as orienting them to learning management system, survey system and other computer resources, and resolving common customer problems. Monitor adherence to policies and procedures, such as verifying eligibility for access to systems. Provide reports and transcripts to users and the team as needed. Maintain merges of accounts and uploads of users to the learning management system. Train users in operating equipment. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and perform basic maintenance and repair of parts and equipment. Analyze, evaluate and diagnose technical problems, report, recommend and document solutions. Collaborate with other departments such as University IT and the IT department.

Principal Duties

  • Provide technical assistance to customers, such as orienting them to computer resources and resolving common customer problems; refer more complex problems to supervisor or other employees for resolution. Collaborate with other departments.

  • Monitor adherence to policies and procedures, such as verifying eligibility for access to systems. Maintain logs and basic documentation, update procedures under guidance. Provide reports and transcripts to users and the team as needed. Maintain merges of accounts and uploads of users to the learning management system.

  • Set up hardware and install software, following organization standards. Train users in operating equipment. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and perform basic maintenance and repair of parts and equipment. Analyze, evaluate and diagnose technical problems, report, recommend and document solutions. Assist with training of students and/or casual employees. Assign and review the work of student and/or casual employees.

  • Maintain IT equipment and supplies; recommend purchase of equipment and supplies. Under guidance, assist with special projects, surveys, and reports.

  • Position Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent and some relevant technical training. 1-2 years of related experience. Basic understanding of computing procedures and standards and desktop configurations.
