Description
Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, the Community Benefit Specialist assist with community outreach and engagement activities meant to promote food security, housing security, socialization, financial security, and health access. The Community Benefit Specialist will work on a team to facilitate community needs assessment, food pantry distribution, outreach and wellness checks, and other program activities and initiatives.
Schedule:35 hours per week.
Salary:$31,164 - $38,955

Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
Primary Duties:
Perform data entry to support the flow of data and statistics for internal reporting and contract requirements.
Assist in creating and facilitating Intergenerational programming
Conduct Community Needs Assessment of older adults living in public housing and surrounding communities of East Harlem and Yorkville Manhattan
Track data associated with support calls
Support homebound older adults.
Provide support to aging services programming
Assist in all aspects of the distribution of nutritional food packages to eligible clients, including, but not limited to, stocking shelves, assisting with deliveries, and conducting intake and assessment.
Assist with packaging food items
Deliver pantry bags to community members as per the assigned route
Maintains accurate log of deliveries
Adhere to all agency policies and procedures, including as relates to COVID safety measures
Provide assistance to Community Engagement Manager
Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or HSE is preferred
Experience working with an aging population preferred.
Comfortable with making home deliveries
Good communication skills both listening and following directions
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher
Ability to lift up and move boxes of food
Ability to work Indoor/Outdoor environment in various weather conditions
Ability to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas Day
