Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist-Endocrine Lab (Part-Time)

Location: Upper East Side

Org Unit: Endocrinology Lab

Work Days: Monday-Friday

Weekly Hours: 17.50

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $32.97 - $42.50

*As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices

Position Summary

Perform stat and routine tests on patient specimens such as: Estradiol, βhCG, LH, FSH, P4, Urine LH, and AMH in order to monitor reproductive hormones.

Job Responsibilities

  • Process samples and perform assays required for NYS proficiency testing specimens.

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

  • Identify, prioritize, and process all clinical samples while ensuring viability and sample integrity throughout the test process.

  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical test processes and evaluate results produced relative to the diagnostic assessment.

  • Assist in evaluating data for accuracy and verify any questionable finding with proper documentation, thorough investigation, and appropriate follow-through.

  • Complete testing processes without any errors, using written policies, procedures, and other appropriate resources.

  • Evaluate and monitor quality control programs, reviews results, worksheets, and other data for accuracy and completeness.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to quality control guidelines to ensure specimen integrity and result accuracy.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory of reagents and consumables to prevent shortages.

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.

  • Perform complete record keeping of all lab reports, lab logs, and requisition forms.

  • Report unusual or abnormal results to the laboratory supervisor and director.

  • Perform various assays and procedures for research studies.

  • Assist doctors and nurses with patient results.

  • Assist director in evaluating and researching new methods and instrumentation.

  • Support and work with new orienteers to demonstrate correct techniques and equipment.

  • Serve as a technical expert and a resource to department staff.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience

Approximately 2 years of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Roche Cobas e801 and Siemens Immulite 2000XPi.

Licenses and Certifications

  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technician or Technologist License.
