The System Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the Digital Hub operates efficiently across various systems and platforms. This position reports to OTI's Office of Data Analytics (ODA) DevOps and collaborates with the Innovation Team in the Mayor's Office to enhance the digital experience of child care access for New Yorkers. The System Engineer manages the infrastructure supporting applications from initial design through testing and deployment. Perform technical design, development, and component testing of repository changes. Set up and maintain cloud-based servers and services. Work with development teams to provide production management support for new application builds. Create scalable and efficient data pipeline architectures based on industry best practices. Execute break-fix solutions in production and non-production environments. Investigate and resolve technical issues with internal teams and vendors. Ensure deliverables from development teams meet system requirements and specifications. Support testing and deployment by monitoring servers and providing technical feedback. Maintain and update system documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into technical solutions. Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned. Experience using Oracle 19c, AWS RDS/MySQL, or database appliances. Understanding of scalable application design principles. Experience with service-oriented architecture and RESTful web services. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
