This Clinical faculty/Director of Labor and Delivery position for Ob/Gyn service supporting Columbia and NYP-Westchester Hospitals Ob/Gyn division. It is an essential, patient facing role.

The Clinical faculty/Director of Labor & Delivery for NYP Westchester Hospital will be part of the CU/NYP Westchester General OBGYN Division Senior leadership team and faculty of the Columbia University Medical School. The Director is expected to uphold the values of the division and work collaboratively with NYPW OBGYN Service Chief, General OBGYN Division Chief, Division Administrator, & NYPH Leadership to move forward the mission of "Advancing Women's Health".

Reporting to the CU/NYP Westchester OBGYN Service Chief, the Director of Labor & Delivery will serve as the physician leader and point of contact for all issues related to Labor & Delivery at NYP Westchester Hospital.

The academic title will be determined by the candidate's qualifications.

Job Duties Include:

  • The Director is responsible for the leadership, successful operations, and quality of Labor and Delivery service at NYPW Hospital and facilitates the integration and teamwork among multidisciplinary team for provision of optimal patient care.
  • Works in conjunction with NYPW Hospital administrative and clinical staff to ensure the highest level of patient care and ensures that all services provided meet all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Works with OBGYN physicians and APPs to adopt and incorporate quality initiatives, evidence-based best practices, and clinical guidelines.
  • Responsible for the administrative oversight of OB Hospitalist Program
  • Responsible for development of strategic and tactical plans to promote patient safety and maximize efficiency of Labor and Delivery services.
  • Provides effective and responsive leadership for Labor & Delivery services, including clinical and decision support for clinical emergencies.
  • Collaborating with Senior Leadership to roll-out and enforce best practices and strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as a liaison between labor and delivery and the physicians and advanced practice practitioners who provide patient care
  • Facilitates and leads multidisciplinary simulation training sessions.
  • Representing NYPW OB/GYN Service in QA's, SMM, RCA reviews/meetings and steering committees. Serving as point of contact for quality reviews.
  • Addressing quality of care concerns and grievances for the OB/GYN Service;
  • Recommending improvemts to delivery of care
  • Ensuring that the evidenced-based standards of inpatient care are being met
  • Role Fulltime 1.0 FTE (60% clinical attending OB/GYN hospitalist and 40% administrative medical director). The clinical effort may change base on clinical needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York State Medical License
  • Board Certified or eligible to be.
  • Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A sub-specialty fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynecology is a plus

  • Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills
  • Collaborates well with other disciplines (RN, CNM, NP) and specialties.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
